Pilot-in-Command Airfield Fee
A personal annual airfield fee is charged from pilots-in-command flying at Nummela Airfield:
- Powered aircraft (also covers gliding): €110/year
- Glider: €95/year
- Upgrade from glider to powered aircraft: €15
The invoice will be sent automatically to the email address provided on the PIC form.
Why this fee?
Nummela Airfield has developed significantly in recent years. We have invested in a weather station, an access control system, and runway lighting. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency granted €200,000 in funding for these, but it required 25% self-financing.
The Municipality of Vihti renewed the runway and taxiway surfacing, which has resulted in an annual ground lease cost of approximately €19,000 for the association since 2020. The new environmental permit has so far cost more than €36,000 — and the process is still not complete.
Maintaining the airfield solely through volunteer work is no longer possible. This fee shares the costs fairly among all users — both local and visiting pilots-in-command.
Nummela Airfield Association is a non-profit association whose goal is to provide all pilots with a developing and first-class airfield.
